Orca pictures taken in Nanaimo Harbour December 14, 2007 by Graeme Ellis (DFO at the Biological Station). The homes are near Gallows Point, Protection Island & the larger buildings are in  Downtown Nanaimo. This orca pod of 13 killer whales is "transient", usually in Alaska & not near Gabriola Island, BC or Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The pod went as far south as Dodd Narrows & back into the Nanaimo Harbour then headed north again past the Winchelsea Islands.
