In
addition to hiking, the local waters offer enthusiasts an abundance of
activities from which to choose. Scuba divers can explore artificial reefs
made by a sunken retired destroyer and a supply ship, while scenic waters,
protected ports, and moorages are all available for kayakers and boating
devotees. For those of you who prefer to watch water activities, The
Harbourside Walkway is a fantastic scenic stroll along the water’s edge.
And
while you’re out and about, have a wander through the downtown area. Along
the narrow, old streets there is a mix of restaurants, boutiques, clothing
and specialty shops, as well as a new library, bookstores, bakeries,
coffee shops and travel agencies. Nanaimo is also home to the
state-of-the-art Port Theatre, a fantastic, modern, civic theatre located
below the shops, near the water.
When the
weather’s grey or you’re in need of a change, step into one of the large
indoor shopping malls. Nanaimo isn’t referred to as “Vancouver Island’s
Shopping Capitol” for nothing. Woodgrove Mall is the largest on the island
and once you’re inside, you’ll find everything you need to decorate your
new Nanaimo home.
Whether you’re a student at
Nanaimo’s excellent Malaspina University-College, putting in a full work
week, starting your own business, or already retired, Nanaimo is an
excellent place to tee off. Buy a home here, and you’ll find you live in a
golfers’ paradise. Play locally, or take a drive, but either way there are
eighteen golf courses within a one-hour drive of Nanaimo.

wise choice; invest in Nanaimo real estate today!
