Gabriola Island's annual events include the Dancing Man Festival, the Concert on the Green, Salmon Barbecue, the Pan-Am Golf Tournament, Gabriola Islander Day and the Thanksgiving Weekend Galley Tour. Dancing Man Festival is an exciting annual festival features an impressive line up of folk, rock, blues, country and international performers. Silva Bay Maritime Festival coincides with the end of the semester at the Silva Bay Shipyard School, and involves the boat-building students launching their creations in an exciting display. Other festivities include tours of the visiting vessels, live entertainment on the outdoor stage, the graduation ceremonies and many informative workshop sessions with true Maritimers. Gabriola Islander Day is a festival with a pancake breakfast; parade, community events, chowder contest, firefighters salmon barbecue and a community dance are in the works.
